Safer Streets Round 5: antisocial behaviour The Nightingales Problem Solving Partnership.

In November 2023, we secured funding from the Home Office Safer Streets Fund (via the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner) to address antisocial behaviour (ASB) in The Nightingales, Greenham. A multi-agency partnership was formed, including:

  • Thames Valley Police
  • West Berkshire Council
  • Berkshire Youth
  • the Youth Justice Support Team
  • Probation
  • local schools
  • Sovereign Housing

The project aimed to deliver interventions by April 2025, including installing CCTV, community clean-up days, youth outreach, and a school-based education programme.

Over the year, the partnership implemented more than 80 actions, including:

  • enhanced policing patrols
  • civil injunctions and house closures to prevent ASB
  • community surveys and engagement
  • youth and school intervention projects
  • LIME training
  • CCTV installation and monitoring
  • three community clean-up events
  • outreach work by Berkshire Youth

These efforts have resulted in a significant reduction in ASB. A significant arrest was made with ongoing CCTV monitoring by Thames Valley Police. The local Neighbourhood Policing Team will continue patrols and maintain collaboration with partners.
