Information about the Blue Badge disabled parking scheme


The Blue Badge eligibility criteria has been expanded and became effective on 30 August 2019. Please read our Icon for doc Eligibility Guidance Document [36KB]  for further details.


Blue Badges are issued to individual applicants and organisations that provide transport to disabled people.

Blue Badge holders are entitled to:

In addition, Blue Badge holders who make regular use of the Kennet Centre or Northbrook multi-storey car parks in Newbury can apply for inclusion on the Licence Plate Recognition System.

The Blue Badge scheme is governed by the Department for Transport using the Icon for pdf Blue Badge scheme local authority guidance (England) [1MB] , which details the eligibility criteria for Blue Badges and how the application process works.
 

How to Apply for or Renew a Blue Badge

If you are an existing Blue Badge holder, you should complete the application form at least 28 days before your current badge expires.
 

Payment

A Blue Badge costs £10. Payment is only required once the application has been assessed and approved.

Please note: cash payments are no longer accepted. Payment can be made online, by telephone or by cheque / postal order.
 

Apply or Renew as an Individual

To apply for or renew a Blue Badge, please use the online application form on the GOV.UK website.

If you apply online, supporting documents that cannot be scanned must be submitted by hand or via post. Digital photographs may be submitted by email.

To apply for or renew an organisation Blue Badge, please complete the Icon for pdf organisational blue badge application form [258KB]  and return it to: Blue Badge Team, West Berkshire Council, Council Offices, Market Street, Newbury, Berkshire, RG14 5LD.

Lost Blue Badge

If you have lost your Blue Badge, please complete the Icon for doc lost/stolen application form [86KB]   or get in touch with the Blue Badge Team.

There's a £10 fee for replacing a lost badge.
