On The Shoulders of Others by Alan Sowersby
Buried deep in subconscious mind,
We are branded, scarred inside,
That place we never want to go,
Where the pain, the hurt, resides.
We bear our worries, trying so hard,
To keep those feelings in,
Till chinks of light appear around,
And the masks start wearing thin.
The brave among us - spoke out loud,
Broke their silences self-imposed,
Opening up and spilling out,
Their darkest fears exposed.
Their courage allowed light to seep inside,
This shine and sparkle shared,
Released those worries to awaiting ears,
As our hearts and minds repaired.
Their words inspired me, paved the way,
As I saw on my reflection,
This plan to write my challenges down,
To release stress, and inner tension.
Now I am free, to speak these words,
Sharing time with kindred souls,
Shedding fears, that shaped my life,
And setting brand new goals.
It's just a chain reaction, we need right now,
To pass comfort down the line,
So, if you need shoulders to step upon,
I'm here, just climb on mine.
