Sensory Garden

The sensory garden at Hungerford Resource Centre was completed in August 2016. The garden is fully accessible to all customers regardless of their abilities and needs.

It is a wonderful open space that is stimulating for all senses, including the different texture and colour plants in the rockery, the smells of the herbs, the beautifully painted mural, the trickling sound of the waterfall and the calming chimes.

This peaceful environment helps people to feel good about themselves, and allows them to take the time to relax and reminisce about times when they were younger and happy memories. There is also the opportunity to learn gardening skills.

The garden helps individuals deal with their own daily issues, and the friendly and safe environment offers people a feeling of self-esteem and something to look forward to. This could not have been achieved without the commitment of the staff at Hungerford Resource Centre, the help of our families, volunteers and the generosity of the local community.

The garden has given us extra pride in the resource centre and people feel happy and safe here.

Volunteers

We're always looking for volunteers. Please contact the centre directly for more information.
