Eling Way Stage 1 extension
West Berkshire Council is proposing to convert specific sections of footway in Hermitage to shared use. The proposals are part of a scheme to extend the Eling Way walking, cycling and horse-riding route through Hermitage village. Conversion of these sections of footway, coupled with other works to sign the route, will make active travel easier within the village and for getting to the existing section of the Eling Way to Hampstead Norreys.
Extension of the Eling Way is in line with the Hermitage Neighbourhood Development Plan and will provide an alternative to using the B4009 for some local journeys. The sections of footway are of sufficient width to allow for current and projected future levels of use of the Eling Way. Appropriate shared use and directional signs, line markings and additional tactile paving will be provided. For more information, please see the Notice and plans in the downloads' section below.
