Council Tax Banding and Charges
Your band, how much you need to pay and making a challenge
The Valuation Office Agency places every domestic property into one of eight bands, A to H. West Berkshire Council has no control over the band your property is placed in.
You can find the band and Council Tax rate of a property by using our Check Your Council Tax page. Alternatively, you can find banding charges for all parishes and towns in the West Berkshire area in our .
The Council Tax also includes charges attributed to the Police & Crime Commissioner and the Royal Berkshire Fire & Rescue Service. Further details about their Council Tax charges are provided in the leaflets below.
If you believe that your banding is wrong, you can contact the Valuation Office Agency to challenge your band. Please find further details about challenging your Council Tax band on the GOV.UK website.
If you do challenge your band, you must continue to pay your Council Tax in the meantime. If your challenge is successful, you will be repaid any tax you have overpaid.
