Assured care and support
Assured Care and Support provides a directory of personal assistants and care providers that have been vetted and approved. The scheme is designed to raise standards and provide assurance to people who need care.
It is for vulnerable adults and provides reassurance that the carer you employ has been thoroughly checked and is legal and properly trained. This scheme covers Wokingham and West Berkshire and is run jointly by Trading Standards and Adult Social Care.

What checks do we do?
All Personal Assistants on our scheme agree to treat each client as an individual respecting and promoting their individual views and wishes.
They agree to:
- ensure that their training remains up to date
- respond promptly and appropriately to customer complaints and queries
- respect confidential information and the client's privacy and dignity
- register with Information Commissioners Office in line with GDPR rules
- pay the appropriate tax
We also do the following background checks:
- Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
- Right to Work checks
- Safeguarding checks with the Local Authority
- Financial/credit history
- Complaints history
- Two references from clients and/or past employers
These checks are re-done annually.
