Is it Enough? by Jane Windsor
Sunlight, like golden liquid pours
A splash of light, the spirit soars
Each breath, each rustle of the dawn
Is it enough when hearts are worn?
For birds who soar with outstretched wing
Known not to fear, but only sing
And in full-throated ease, their song
Will soften hearts, will right the wrong
A crown of blossoms frame the sky
Is it enough? Becomes our cry
Like pink confetti, heaven sent
And yet, and yet, the heart's lament
We may be broken, battered, torn
We may hold fast the ones we mourn
Is it enough to hope, to cry,
To weep, to feel, to wonder why?
And nature, in her perfect peace
Comforts and soothes, all strivings cease
For in this gentle, softest tune
The suffering will end, and soon
We smile, through heavy-lidded eyes
Of banished tears and muffled sighs
How brave, how strong and oh so tough
For us to say
"It is enough"
