Abandoned and Unwanted Vehicles

A vehicle is usually thought to have been abandoned if it's not taxed, and has not been moved for a long time.  
You can check if a vehicle is taxed online using the government vehicle enquiry service. If you notice an untaxed vehicle that is still regularly used, you can report an untaxed vehicle directly to the DVLA.

We also provide a free removal scheme for unwanted privately-owned vehicles. If you wish to get rid of a vehicle that you own, complete and return the application form [28KB] .  

Once the completed form and vehicle documents are received, we will arrange free collection and disposal of the vehicle.
