Non-household waste charges at recycling centres
Charges to dispose of non-household waste at our recycling centres.
From January 2024, there will be changes to our charges for ceramics, rubble, soil and plasterboard.
We will accept up to four 25 litre rubble bags, or a single piece of waste no larger than 2000mm by 750mm by 700mm in size, for free, as long as you make no more than four visits with this type of waste over four weeks. Anything more than this amount will be chargeable at current rates to cover specialist disposal costs (as permitted by national legislation).
Before you visit one of our recycling centres, you need to book an appointment. You can find site restrictions, opening hours, location and other site information here.
Some types of waste are classified as 'non-household waste', which means that we have no statutory obligation to accept them at the recycling centres. As a result, we charge for the disposal of some items.
There is a charge to dispose of certain amounts of:
- soil
- rubble
- ceramics
- plasterboard
There is also a charge for tyres.
See the tables below for details on the amount of waste and the cost. Payment will only be accepted by credit or debit card at the sites (we do not accept American Express).

Ceramic, rubble, plasterboard and soil charges
The prices below are based on a full load. You will be charged proportionally if your load is less. For example, if you have a standard car and have only half filled the boot with soil, you will be charged 50% of the price below. Vehicle capacity will be assessed on a case by case basis and will be subject to staff discretion.
Items such as sinks, toilet cisterns and sink pedestals are classed as single items.
