Coronavirus: Waste Services

Information about the status of the council's waste services in relation to coronavirus (COVID-19).

Rubbish and recycling collections from households in West Berkshire will continue as normal, unless otherwise notified.

We continue to work with our collections contractor to ensure that services are provided with minimal disruption. However, if we have to change the level of service we provide, for example if a large number of staff are not available, we will prioritise essential services such as rubbish collections.

Should I treat my waste differently if someone in my house has coronavirus?

If there is someone in your household with a possible coronavirus infection, double-bag and tie your waste in plastic bags and store this securely for 72 hours before presenting it with normal waste for collection. As an additional measure, wherever possible, please wipe or sanitise the bin/box/bag handles or lids to minimise the spread of infection and wash your hands thoroughly after putting out or retrieving your bins/bags/boxes.

You can read more information relating to COVID-19 here.

Further information on our waste services can be found on our Rubbish and Recycling webpages.
