Advocacy for Carers

Information on advocacy for carers and how to access it

An advocate is someone who will make sure your rights are respected and you have real control over the big decisions in your life. They can help you speak up in meetings, or speak on your behalf, deal with difficult issues and understand important decisions being made.

Advocates are independent - they can support you through your assessment and help you understand your rights and make sure you are listened to. Advocates do not work for the Council or the NHS.

Advocacy in West Berkshire is available to you, if you are an older person, a carer, a person with a disability or a mental health illness, through SWAN Advocacy West Berkshire.
