Over 200 visitors were treated to an exhilarating morning of action and adventure at Goldwell Park in Newbury on Saturday 30 September as a new pump track was unveiled to the public.

Those in attendance were treated to a BMX demonstration by the United Wheels Foundation as well as pro BMXer and British cycling coach, Jak Tones, demonstrating his professional BMX skills and tricks! There were also free refreshments available and exciting gifts provided by Four one Four Skate Parks.

The Goldwell Park Pump Track is not just any track; it's a state-of-the-art marvel installed by experts at Four one Four Skateparks, known for their top-notch skate park designs. With tarmac surfacing that can withstand all weather conditions, this track is set to become a dynamic addition for everyone in the community—regardless of age! Whether you're a seasoned rider or just looking for some outdoor fun, this pump track has something for all ages.

As we say goodbye to the 20-year-old dirt track that was in an unusable state, riders can now embrace the future of a recreational pump track and promises endless excitement for wheeled sports enthusiasts.

The innovative pump track is a continuous circuit designed for wheeled sports like BMX and mountain biking. Rather than pedalling, riders use a unique "pumping" motion to maintain momentum as they navigate a thrilling sequence of rollers and swoopy, banked turns.

This exciting project, made possible through a £112,000 investment by West Berkshire Council, was developed in collaboration with our local BMX group United Wheels Foundation. Their vision and invaluable advice on the process has paved the way for this incredible track.

Councillor Janine Lewis, Executive Member for Public Health, Culture, Leisure, Sport and Countryside at West Berkshire Council, said:

"It's fabulous to see the opening of this great facility in Newbury. We know how much this track means to so many people and thank everyone involved in bringing the vision to reality.

"It was a great turnout for the grand opening with a mix of ages and abilities to celebrate this incredible addition to our community. We look forward to seeing more people bring their family and friends along with their sense of adventure!"

Grant Stone from United Wheels Foundation, said:

"I am really looking forward to seeing all ages enjoying this great new track. Huge thanks to everyone involved for all their hard work in completing this project."
